Biography

Dr. Gilly is an Addictionologist in private practice with the Gammons Medical Group in Detroit, Michigan since 2018, and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Wayne State University School of Medicine since 2014 Dr. Gilly received his undergraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York City and completed Family Practice residency in 1985 in Dallas, Texas. He has been Board Certified in Family Medicine continuously since 1985 and in Addiction Medicine since 2010by the ABAM and since 2019 by the ABPM. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Gilly practiced office-based primary care for over 20 years before transitioning in 2007 to addiction medicine full-time. He joined the Maplegrove Center in West Bloomfield, Michigan, a free-standing inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment facility of the Henry Ford Health System in 2011 and was responsible for developing and presenting the annual 12-lecture series introducing addiction medicine to the Psychiatry residents at Henry Ford Hospital. He has been chosen by fellow physicians as one of ten Top Docs in Addiction Medicine in the Detroit/Southeast Michigan area in 2017 and 2019. Dr. Gilly is passionate about teaching the medical model of addiction medicine and the biopsychosocial approach to treatment to his patients and colleagues.
