Biography

Dr. Abdelkhalik is Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, at Iowa State University. He received his PhD in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M University, college station, TX, USA in 2005, and MS and BS degrees in aerospace engineering from Cairo University, Egypt. His research interests are in the areas of dynamics, control, and space trajectory optimization. Dr. Abdelkhalik has been funded by NASA and NSF to develop new evolutionary algorithms for space trajectory optimization. He had also worked with Sandia National Labs on developing control methods for ocean wave energy converters. His most recent research project focuses on enhancing the NASA Evolutionary Mission Trajectory Generator tool, in collaboration with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
