Tatsuo Kaneko received a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Tokyo Tech. He then joined the faculty as an Assis Prof at Hokkaido Univ, Kagoshima Univ, and Osaka Univ. After that, he joined JAIST where he was promoted to Assoc Prof and to Full Prof in 2016. He also joined UCLA as a Visiting Associate Prof in 2012. Current research interests include gels, liquid crystals, poly(amino acid)s, polysaccharides,, and bioplastics, for which he has received international prizes such as “Distinguished Award” at the 12th IUPAC NMS-XII, and “Gottfried Wagener prize” The 9th German Innovation Award have also been given.
