Federica Palazzoli is a Researcher in the Department of Biomedical, Metabolic and Neural Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies and earned a Doctor of Philosophy. Currently, she works in the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory at the Institute of Legal Medicine where she faces issues and challenges regarding the two main branches of forensic toxicology: postmortem forensic toxicology and human performance forensic toxicology. She is regularly appointed as an expert by the prosecutors to provide chemical analysis and assessment on confiscated black market drugs. Dr. Palazzoli’s research interests are focused on the development of analytical toxicology methods and the evaluation of factors that influence the interpretation of analytical toxicology results. She is a member of the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) and the Italian Group of Forensic Toxicologists (GTFI). She authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and she is presenting several peer-reviewed papers at national and international scientific meetings.
