Shamim Sheikh is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto, Canada. He has extensively published his work on concrete materials and structures, and their sustainability and resilience. For his work he has received several awards, most recently, the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers Horst Leipholz Medal and Sitara-eImtiaz, one of the highest Civil Awards, from the President of Pakistan. He has been a member and chair of several technical and code committees and currently chairs the Subcommittee on Structrues with Fibre Reinforced Polymers Reinforcement of the Canadian Highway Bridge Code.
