George E. Cirlin received his BS and MS degrees from Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute, PhD and D.Sc degrees from Institute for Analytical Instrumentation RAS in 1985, 1987, 1991 and 2001, respectively, all in Semiconductor Physics. His research interest has been in the areas of growth and investigation of semiconductor nanostructures. He has authored about 350 papers in leading journals and conferences and 8 patents. His current research interests are mainly concentrated on nanowire and quantum dots physics and technology. He is a Head of the Laboratory of Epitaxial Nanotechnologies at AlferovSt.Petersburg Academic University RASand Leading Research Scientist at A.F.Ioffe Institute RAS. He is the editorial board member of3 scientific journals. He is the recipient of INTAS, St.Petersburg Government and Scientific Council of Russian Academy of Sciences awards; Otto Mønsted Professorship (Denmark) and Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Germany).
