Dr. Rathnayake obtained her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. She obtained her Ph.D. from University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), Department of Chemistry in 2007. Just after she finished her Ph.D., she was a Postdoctoral research fellow at Polymer Science & Engineering, UMass Amherst. She started her academic career in 2009. Prior to join the Nanoscience department at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) in 2016, Dr. Rathnayake was in the Chemistry department at Western Kentucky University as an Assistant Professor and later as Associate Professor for seven years. Her current research focuses on Novel nanomaterials design, synthesis, and supramolecular self-assembly for sub-7 nm functional platforms, heterostructures for energy harvesting, conversion, and storage. One of the exciting research projects conducted in recent years was developing carbon-based nanomaterials and metal-organic frameworks to study their self-assembly under microgravity at NASA International Space Station collaboration with NASA Glenn Research Center.
Professor Sukhdev Royreceived theB.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics from Delhi University in 1986, the M.Sc. Physics with, specialization in Electronic Science, from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra in 1988 and PhD. fromIIT Delhi in 1993.Thereafter he joined the Dayalbagh Educational Institute, where he is at present a Professor in the Department of Physics and Computer Science. He has been a visiting scientist at many universities that include, Harvard, Waterloo, Würzburg,Regensburg, Osaka,City University and Queen Mary University of London, TIFR-Mumbai and I.I.Sc.-Bangalore. He has beenan Associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy.
He has won a number of awards and fellowships that include, the, AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers in 2001, JSPS Invitation Fellowship, Japan in 2004, H.C. Shah Research Endowment Prize by Sardar Patel University in 2006, 1stIETE B.B. Sen Memorial Award in 2007, IETE-Conference on Emerging Opto-electronic Technologies Award in 2012, IETE-Smt. Manorama Rathore Memorial Award in 2016, the Systems Society of India’s National Systems Gold Medal in 2016 and six best paper awards in international and national conferences. He has published 175 research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings and 11 book chapters. He has delivered 91 keynote/plenary/invited talks in prestigious Conferences and Institutes. He was the Guest Editor of the March 2011 Special Issue of IET Circuits, Devices and Systems Journal (U.K.) on Optical Computing. He is an Associate Editor of IEEEAccess and is a member of the Editorial Board of Optics and Photonics Journal. He isalso a Senior Member of IEEE (USA) and a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Sciences, India, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India), and the Optical Society of India.
His research interests are in Nano-, Bio-, Organic and Silicon Photonics, Nonlinear Optics, Optical Computing and Ultrafast Information Processing. His research has focused on Nano-Bio-Photonics, especially on bioengineering of photosensitive proteins for all-optical information processing, photovoltaics, sensing and computational optogenetics that involves optimization of low-power, high frequency and high-fidelity neuronal firing with ultrafast channelrhodopsins.
Dr Dina El-Gayar is an Associate Professor at Chemical Engineering Department and the Coordinator for Gas & Petrochemical Engineering program, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University. She completed her Ph.D. in 2014 from Alexandria University, Faculty of Engineering and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering at the same university 2009. She is the instructor for Process Dynamics and control course & Renewable Energy Resources. She is the coordinator for the national funds and technology transfer in project management unit in the same university. She has researches in the field of wastewater treatment & has published 12 research articles in SCI journals. She worked in Trinex project (Water Energy Food Nexus) funded by Tempus.

Dr. Lifeng Zhang is currently a tenured associate professor of nanoengineeringin North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and an adjunct professor in the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Fiber and Polymer Science from the University of California at Davis in 2006.Dr. Zhang has a firm background in fiber and polymer materials. His research interests lie in engineered materials at nanometer scale. Dr. Mubarak Ali has pursued his Post-Doctoral Research in Satellite Research Centre, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has accomplished his Ph.D in School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore with Nanyang Research Scholarship. He has completed his M.S. (by Research) in IIT Madras, in Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. He holds a B.Tech Degree in Production Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Anna University Campus, Chennai. His Final Year Undergraduate Research Project involved Vibration Analysis of Microsatellite Satellite Structure, which forms a part of early stage analysis of ANUSAT Satellite program.
