Wei R. Chen received his BS in Physics from Shandong University in China in 1982, and Ph.D. degrees in theoretical high-energy physics from the University of Oregon in 1988. Currently he is Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Dean at the College of Mathematics and Science, and the Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Education and Research, at the University of Central Oklahoma. Dr. Chen's research focuses on cancer treatment. He is the co-inventor of the novel treatment method for metastatic cancers - laser immunotherapy (LIT) - which has been used in initial clinical trials for late-stage, metastatic melanoma and breast cancer patients with promising outcomes. Dr. Chen had published more than 130 peer-reviewed articles and more than 160 conference proceeding papers. He has been awarded eight US patents and several international patents.
