Thibaut Sylvestre received his Ph. D in physics from the University of Franche-ComtÃ©, in BesanÃ§on, in 1999, for his work about fundamental aspects of parametric amplification and stimulated Raman scattering in optical fibers. He then started a 2-years postdoctoral stays abroad in the field of laser physics at the UniversitÃ© libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium, working on passively mode-locked fiber lasers and high-power continuous-wave Raman lasers for telecommunications. In 2001, He was appointed full-time researcher at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in FEMTO-ST Research institute, in France, leading a research project and wideband parametric and Raman amplifiers. In 2006, He received the French post-doctoral degree allowing its holder to supervise Ph. students. He is now leading the nonlinear photonics group of the FEMTO-ST research institute and is supervising theoretical and experimental studies of fundamental nonlinear optical phenomena with the aim of investigating potential applications to telecommunications, fiber lasers and optical sensors. He is a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and of the IEEE Photonics Society and the French and european society of optics (SFO and ESO). In 2012, He received the Fabry-de-Gramont award from the SFO for his scientific achievements in the field of nonlinear photonics.
