Camillo Ricordi, M.D. is Professor and Director of the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) and the Cell Transplant Center at the University of Miami (UM), Florida. Ricordi’s research interests include the use of molecular, cell-based strategies for modulation of inflammation, immunomodulation and regenerative medicine, to prevent or treat diabetes, kidney disease, neurodegenerative, age-related chronic degenerative conditions, and to prolong healthy lifespan (healthspan). He contributed over 1,000 scientific publications that were cited over 42,000 times (H Index 96) and received numerous honors and awards, including the World Prize in Surgery (University of Geneva), the Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award (American Diabetes Association), and he was Knighted by the President of the Republic of Italy. In 2018 he was inducted into the National Academy of Inventors, ranked as #1 world expert in transplantation of insulin producing cells, and was appointed to the Supreme Council of Health by the Italian Ministry of Health.
Professor Hari Mohan Srivastava began his university-level teaching career right after having received his M.Sc. degree in 1959 at the age of 19 years. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 1965 while he was a full-time member of the teaching faculty at J. N. V. University of Jodhpur (since 1963). Currently, Professor Srivastava holds the position of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Victoria in Canada, having joined the faculty there in 1969. Professor Jaakko Tuomilehto is Professor Emeritus of Public Health of University of Helsinki, Finland. His past affiliations include World Health Organization, University of Kuopio in Finland, National Institute for Health and Welfare in Helsinki Danube-University Krems in Austria, Dasman Diabetes Institute in Kuwait. His research interests include the epidemiology and prevention of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia.
