Haithem Taha is currently an associate professor in the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. He holds BSc and MSc degrees in aerospace engineering from Cairo University, Egypt in 2005 and 2008. He received his PhD degree from the Engineering Science and Mechanics department at Virginia Tech under the Benjamin Franklin Medalist, Prof. Ali Nayfeh, simultaneously with an MSc degree in Interdisciplinary Mathematics in Dec 2013. He received several awards such as the AIAA OC Young Professional of the year, Best Presentation at the Aeronautics, Control, Guidance Systems Committee, which culminated by the prestigious NSF CAREER Award. 
His research interests include differential-geometric nonlinear control theory and unsteady nonlinear aerodynamics with applications to nonlinear flight dynamics and bio-inspired flight.
