Biography

Jannick Rolland is the Brian J. Thompson Professor of Optical Engineering at the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester and CTO of Ligh Top Tech. She is the Director of the NSF Center for Freeform Optics (CeFO) and the R.E. Hopkins Center for Optical Design and Engineering. She earned an optical engineering diploma from the Institut d'Optique, France, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Optical Science from the College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. Professor Rolland is a Fellow of OSA, SPIE, and NAI. She is the recipient of the 2014 David Richardson Medal and the 2020 Joseph Fraunhofer Award / Robert M. Burley Prize. Her research interests focus on optical engineering innovations in imaging and visualization.
