Radek Soukup, born in Plzen (Czech Republic) in 1980, received his M.Sc. degree (2004) in electrical engineering and his Ph.D. degree (2009) in electronics technologies from the University of West Bohemia (UWB). During his studies he completed a one-year internship in Siemens VDO in Regensburg and spent two semesters as a visiting student at the Danish Technical University, Kopenhagen, DK and at the Brunel University, London, UK. He spent two years as a quality engineer at Continental AG in Germany. Since 2009 he has been working as a senior lecturer and a research leader of the smart textile group at the research centre RICE at the UWB. He is focused on research in smart textiles and printed electronics. He is co-author of national and international patents in the field of printed electronics and smart textiles.
