Professor Samy Azer is an Australian physician, medical academic and researcher. He was honored to contribute to medical education in several countries. He graduated in medicine and completed his training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He obtained Ph.D. from the University of Sydney and a Master in Education from the University of New South Wales. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology since 1989 and a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is a visiting professor at the University of Toyama, Japan and was the professor of Medical Education at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. He is the Chair of Curriculum Development and Research at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. Professor Azer was a consultant to the Victorian Postgraduate Medical Foundation (VMPF), Australia. He has strong ties with the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney where he graduated. He has been invited as a keynote speaker to conferences in South East Asia, Sweden, Turkey, the Middle East countries and the United States. Dr. Sledge has served in a variety of roles within Psychiatry as well as Yale University. Within Psychiatry, he was Clinical Director of the Connecticut Mental Health Center until he moved in 1996 to the Medical Directorship of Psychiatry at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Peter Vlerick is working as professor in the Department of Personnel Management, Work and Organizational Psychology, Ghent University (Belgium). He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology with a thesis on the antecedents and consequences of burnout in hospital nurses. His scientific research is strongly multidisciplinary and focuses on the study of work psychological outcomes in a variety of professional groups in health care and non-health care sectors. Dr. Petra Staiger has worked in the clinical and research field of addiction for the last 15 years. She has a well-respected national and international reputation in this area with a strong track record in managing large research grants. Her research expertise is in investigating the etiology and treatment of individuals with addictive behavior problems with a particular focus on those with complex needs (i.e., polydrug users, co-morbid mental health problems). At the School of Nursing, she has engaged in translational clinical research on PTSD as well as education-based and community-service based diversity research.
